EZ DOSE
Frequently asked questions
Common questions about EZ DOSE from 3G Electric.
What is the difference between EZ DOSE Luer Lock and Luer Slip syringes?
EZ DOSE Luer Lock syringes (e.g., MEZ1LL, MEZ20LL, MEZ50LL) have a threaded tip that screws onto a corresponding Luer Lock needle or connector, providing a secure, leak-resistant connection. Luer Slip syringes (e.g., MEZ1LS, MEZ5LS, MEZ10LS, MEZ20LS, MEZ50LS) use a friction-fit taper that allows quick push-on attachment. Luer Lock is preferred when higher pressure or repeated handling may cause disconnection; Luer Slip is suitable for low-pressure applications where speed of attachment is prioritized.
Are EZ DOSE syringes sterile?
No, EZ DOSE syringes are non-sterile. They are intended for applications where sterility is not required, such as chromatography sample preparation, solvent dispensing, or general laboratory fluid transfer. For sterile applications, users must perform their own sterilization or select a sterile-grade syringe from another supplier.
What materials are used in EZ DOSE syringes?
EZ DOSE syringes feature a polypropylene barrel and tip, with a plastic plunger. Polypropylene offers chemical resistance to many organic solvents, acids, and bases, and is compatible with common chromatography mobile phases. The plastic plunger reduces friction and eliminates the need for silicone lubricants, minimizing potential contamination in analytical work.
What capacities are available for EZ DOSE syringes?
EZ DOSE syringes are available in 1 mL, 5 mL, 10 mL, 20 mL, and 50 mL capacities. Both Luer Lock and Luer Slip configurations are offered for each capacity, except the 5 mL and 10 mL sizes which are currently listed only in Luer Slip. This range covers typical volumes for sample injection, dilution, and transfer in chromatography and general lab work.
Can EZ DOSE syringes be used with HPLC or GC systems?
Yes, EZ DOSE syringes are designed for chromatography applications, including HPLC and GC sample preparation. Their polypropylene construction and plastic plunger minimize extractables and background interference. However, they are not intended for direct injection into high-pressure HPLC systems; they are used for sample handling prior to injection. For direct injection, use a dedicated HPLC syringe with a metal or glass barrel.
