The shutting-off of automatic valves or non-tightly closing of regulators can cause\n pressure increase; by releasing that overpressure in a relief line, VS valve enables the system\n to work properly again.\n\n\n\n\n Features Valve housing is made of aluminum alloy die-cast.\n Equipped with adjustable spring, so that relief pressure can be precisely set up on site.\n Pipe connections meet group 2.\n Designed for high relief flow.\n Suitable for use with air and non-aggressive gases included in the 1, 2 and 3 families (EN 437).\n Special versions for aggressive gases (like biogas or COG) are free of non-ferrous metals and\n provided with rubber part made of FKM (J version).\n Provided with pressure test points on two sides in the inlet chamber to connect manometers,\n pressure switches or other gas equipments.\n All components are designed to withstand any mechanical, chemical and thermal condition\n occurring during typical service. Effective impregnation and surface treatments are used to\n improve mechanical sturdiness, sealing and resistance to corrosion of components.\n Valves are 100% tested and fully warranted.\n\n\n\n\n 2-5\nelektrogas.com\n\f ELEKTROGAS – Technical Sheet EE184 – 0320\n\n\nFunctioning and\napplication In a relief valve inlet pressure acts on one side of a diaphragm, while on the other side there is a\n spring. Diaphragm is connected to the disc: when force of inlet pressure is higher than spring\n force, diaphragm moves and disc opens releasing gas in relief line. After discharging pressure\n surge, inlet pressure gets lower and disc closes again. Relief pressure can be set operating on\n the spring.\n\n\n\n\n ADJUSTABLE\n SPRING\n\n\n\n\n WORKING\n DIAPHRAGM\n\n\n\n\n INLET RELIEF LINE\n\n\n\n\n Fig.1\n\n\n This device is usually installed in gas trains, industrial applications and gas firing systems.\n Figure 2 shows an example of installation in combination with other Elektrogas devices.\n\n\n\n\n VS\n relief valve\n RF\n Filter and VML\n pressure regulator Slow opening\n VMR solenoid valve\n Pressure PSG Fast opening\n VSG gauge Pressure solenoid valve\n Globe switch\n valve\n\n\n\n\n Gas Consumer\n network\n\n\n\n\n Fig.2\n\n\n\n\n 3-5\n\f ELEKTROGAS – Technical Sheet EE184 – 0320\n\n\nTechnical\nspecifications\n Tab. 1\n\n Connections Threaded F/F ISO 7-1 Rp3/4 or Rp1\n or ANSI-ASME B1.20 3/4”NPT or 1”NPT\n\n Inlet pressure points: G 1/4” (ISO 228) or 1/4” NPT\n\n\n Ambient temperature -15°C ... +60°C (+5 … +140°F)\n\n\n Inlet pressure - max 3 bar (45 psig)\n\n Spring colour Neutral Orange Blue Black\n\n Relief pressure (mbar) 45 – 150 85 – 190 150 – 450 400 – 1000\n\n (psig) 0.65 - 2.15 1.25 - 2.75 2.2 - 6.5 6.0 - 15\n Discharge capacity see charts\n\n\n Installation Horizontal (with settable spring upward) or vertical pipeline.\n\n Air, natural gas, town gas, LPG (gaseous) of families 1,2,3 (EN437).\n Gas type\n On request special version for biologically produced methane and COG.\n\n\n Weight 1.3 Kg\n\n Materials in Aluminum alloy\n contact Stainless steel\n with gas Plated steel\n Polyamide\n Anaerobic adhesive\n Nitrile rubber (NBR)\n Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE)\n\n Specifications of J version Max inlet pressure: 1 bar (black spring not available)\n for Biogas or COG Seals made of Fluoroelastomer (FPM), instead of NBR\n It is recommended to check compatibility of gas contents and valve materials\n before installation.\n\n\n\n\n Fig.3 (mm)\n\n\n\n\n 4-5\n\f ELEKTROGAS – Technical Sheet EE184 – 0320\n\n\nFlow capacity\nWith inlet pressure at 115% of set pressure.\n\n\n\n\n Fig. 4\n\n\n\nOrdering\nInformation Tab. 2\n\n VS 3 B .\n Valve type\n VS = relief valve\n\n\n Connections\n 2 = Rp3/4\n 3 = Rp1\n Relief range pressure\n A1 45-150 mbar\n A2 85-190 mbar\n B 150-450 mbar\n C 400-1000 mbar (not for J ver.)\n .\n Special version\n - standard\n N = NPT threads\n .J = version for bio and coke gas\n\n\n\n\nStandards and\napprovals The valves are designed and manufactured according to European Directive on Pressure\n Equipment 2014/68/EU (cert.
