What is the shelf life of HACH ULR reagents?
HACH ULR reagents typically have a shelf life of 12 to 24 months from the date of manufacture when stored in a cool, dry place (15–25°C) and away from direct sunlight. Each kit includes expiration dates on the reagent bottles. 3G Electric recommends checking the lot number and expiration upon receipt to ensure optimal performance.
Can HACH ULR kits be used with any fluorometer?
HACH ULR kits are designed for use with Hach fluorometers, such as the DR 3900 or specific ULR fluorometer models. The kits include calibration standards and protocols tailored to Hach instruments. Using non-Hach fluorometers may require validation of the method and calibration curve, as fluorescence response can vary between instruments.
What is the difference between free chlorine and total chlorine HACH ULR kits?
The free chlorine kit (SKU 908RF1) measures only free chlorine (hypochlorous acid and hypochlorite ion) in the range 2–100 µg/L Cl₂. The total chlorine kit (SKU 908RF2) measures combined chlorine (chloramines) plus free chlorine, with a range of 3–100 µg/L Cl₂. Both use fluorescence but with different reagents. The sulfite kit (SKU 908RF0) is a separate parameter for sulfite detection.
How many tests are in a HACH ULR kit, and what is included?
Each HACH ULR kit contains 100 tests. The package includes pre-measured reagent bottles (typically 2 bottles for free chlorine, 1 for sulfite and total chlorine), a vial stand, and an instruction manual. The fluorometer and sample vials are not included and must be purchased separately. The reagents are sufficient for 100 individual measurements.
What are typical applications for HACH ULR sulfite test kits?
HACH ULR sulfite kits are used to monitor sulfite residuals in boiler feedwater and condensate to prevent corrosion from oxygen scavenging.
